About us

The School Background

Mother Majeri Primary School was founded in 2002 by The Late Opio George Ocom, an Itesot from Bukedea District. The Name Mother Majeri is derived from the mother of the founder in recognition of the good things she did for him to become an important person in the country. Mr. Opio George rested in June 2021.

The school started with classes Nursery to P.7 with 24 teaching staff and 15 support staff. Total enrolment of the school by the end of 2002 was 95 pupils among which 5 registered as candidates. Since then, the number of pupils has kept on growing rapidly as a result of our excellent performances throughout our existence.

Mother Majeri Primary School (MMPS) has a superior and conducive learning environment, friendly and compassionate staff. We are located in Kirinya-Bweyogerere along Namataba-Bukasa road 2km to the east of Mandela International Stadium (Namboole)

The school has an enrolment of about 2000 pupils out of whom 435 are in the Nursery section and the rest in primary. We have a well trained teaching staff of 85 and 75 support staff. Our pupils come from different countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Southern Sudan, DR Congo, Rwanda, India, Pakistan etc.

The School Today

Mother Majeri is one of the greatest institutions in the region and country as a whole. Located on a five-acre piece of land, the school has very spacious classrooms and spacious dormitories to accommodate girls and boys. We have a standby generator that serves both the primary and Nursery sections. Mother Majeri has had tremendous growth in terms of population and the general structure. We now have a fully fledged Nursery school on its premises.

This remarkable growth is attributed to our excellent performance at P.L.E level where we now compete with outstanding schools in the city

We boast of a modern three-storey boys’ dormitory constructed in 2015. A Min-Didi’s Park for Nursery children has been constructed at the Nursery section and is now fully operational. We are in the final stages of selecting a bidder for the construction of our own modern swimming pool at the same site to promote the skill of swimming, an activity we have always excelled in throughout the competitions we have had with many schools around.

The school has also improved greatly in the technology area. Our modern computer Laboratory, so far the biggest of its kind among both secondary and primary schools around, has 45 computers and a Projector.

Children are brought in the lab at intervals to acquire the computer skill in a bid to attain the 8th MDG. Practical lessons are conducted for classes P.1- P.6.Our typing pool for exams is now equipped with three professional secretaries and two latest brand new, high-speed digital printing machines i.e the Risograph and Kyocera printer copier, the only ones among institutions around. We are in the final stages of the design and development of a School Management Information System (SMIS) and a Local Area Network (LAN).

The general infrastructure and compound of the school are quite praiseworthy. They enable the learners to keep themselves clean throughout the day.
